Purveyors of fine food have flocked to take part in the Nantwich Food and Drink Festival 2013.

More than 130 trade stands displaying a mouth-watering array of food from across the globe will fill the town centre over festival weekend, September 6-8.

Space was sold out weeks before the event giving the voluntary organisation which stages the event cash in the kitty to provide a feast of attractions.

Festival spokesman John Coulter said: “We really have great mix of stands and there was certainly no trouble attracting them.

“Such is the reputation of the festival, trade space is already at a sell-out.

“It means visitors can treat their senses to an explosion of tastes, smells and sights of the very finest food and drink from around the world.”

Gastronomic delights will include cheeses, honey, jams and pickles as well as international delicacies such as Italian olives, Belgium chocolates, French pastries, German salamis, Indian curries and African spices.

Home-grown Cheshire foods and local beers will be very much in evidence.

Cheese, wines and fresh produce will be in abundance.

But the festival will also offer exhibitors specialising in Caribbean, Spanish, Thai, Chinese, Indian and Italian foods.

Organisers have also beefed up the range of meats the festival has to offer with several unusual varieties such as buffalo, ostrich, kangaroo, reindeer, wild boar and zebra.
