The owners of Nantwich Bookshop feature in a story of their own as part of a new BBC reality series, Million Dollar Intern.
Bookshop owners Steve and Denise Lawson were picked as one of a handful of businesses around the UK to star in the new series.
The show sees young entrepreneur Gary Martin, 25, work as an intern at the struggling store overlooking the town square.
Inviting trouble-shooter Gary is the last resort – but Denise, who runs the popular café upstairs and takes the job of supervising intern Gary – doesn’t know his real identity.
She takes him under her wing, but doesn’t hesitate to give the lowly intern the task of cleaning toilets.
Gary has a grand plan to help the business turn itself around and it involves unifying the café and the book business, but before he can put his plan into action, he’s got to reveal to the team – and Steve’s wife Denise, that he’s been lying to them for two days about whom he really is.
Steve told Nantwichnews the show has been aired in various countries around world already, but is not due to be screened in the UK until 2014.
“Yes it has been aired worldwide, and we have had 20+ messages from Mexico to New Zealand,” he revealed.
“I believe it is not scheduled to be aired until 2014 in the UK.
“It is difficult to watch oneself on TV but I think we came out of it alright!”
A spokesman for Outline Productions said: “I can’t tell you when the Nantwich Bookshop episode will air at the moment, as currently there is no definite time allocated to it for a UK broadcast.
“The series has so far aired on Several BBC Worldwide channels in Asia, Australia, South Africa and Norway.
“I believe it is still the plan to air the series in the UK, but as of this moment there is no definite plan in place for when.”
