Staff at Cheerbrook Farm Shop in Nantwich are celebrating after scooping Best On-Farm Butchery at the prestigious FARMA Awards.

The winners were announced at the annual National Farmers’ Retail & Markets Association ceremony in Kenilworth, Warwickshire.

The Cheerbrook team, based off Newcastle Road, were also finalists in the Farm Retailer of the Year Award.

“We’re over the moon to have won the Best On-Farm Butchery Award,” said Cheerbrook owner Andrew Shufflebotham.

“Our butchery counter has always been the jewel in our crown.

“We have a brilliantly talented and passionate team of butchers who practise traditional skills yet also come up with new, exciting and delicious meat products for our customers, week in and week out.”

The Cheerbrook butchery is renowned for award-winning dry cure bacon and range of sausages which are handmade at the store.

“Great butchery starts with well-reared animals, and we couldn’t do what we do without our fantastic local meat suppliers,” Andrew added.

“The Holdcroft family of Audley supply our beef, our lamb comes from the Rowlinson and Massey Farms near Gawsworth and pork and chicken from Packington Farm in Staffordshire.

“It’s the exceptionally high standards of all these farms which help ensure the quality and taste of our products.”

The FARMA awards, which recognise excellence across the farm retail sector, are assessed by farm retail experts and former award winners.

Awards judge Heather Copley said: “This is a business that is excellent in its field. It is a brilliant butchery – any farm shop team could learn from Cheerbrook Farm Shop.”
