Camra Nantwich beer festival, in Crewe

Beer lovers will be in heaven this weekend at the Camra Nantwich Beer festival.

The festival has now been relocated and will be staged at the Railway Heritage Centre in Crewe.

It opens tomorrow (August 29) from midday until 11pm.

It will also be open on Saturday (August 30), 11am to 11pm, and on Sunday (August 31) 12pm-3pm.

One of the organisers Colin Donald, a member of the local Camra committee South Cheshire branch, said they are hoping for bigger crowds after last year took a hit by the weather.

“We used to run the festival at Nantwich Civic Hall but had to move when the food festival took it,” he said.

Nantwich Cricket Club on Whitehouse Lane hosted the event for a couple of years.

“It was a kind offer which was fine at first, but in the last year visitor numbers were down, perhaps due to the bad weather,” added Colin.

“We looked for another venue in Nantwich, but without success.”

That’s when Camra were approached by the Railway Heritage Centre to put the festival on there.

As usual, there are scores or real ales, lagers, ciders and more on offer during the festival.

There will also be food and live music on offer on Friday and Saturday, with a small entry fee of £3.
