Tim Sanders, Nantwich Town signing

Nantwich Town have signed striker Theo Stair from Hanley and Tim Sanders from Newcastle Town.

Stair joins a long list of Dabbers players who were developed by Crewe Alexandra before being released at 18.

He was a prolific scorer with Hanley last season, scoring 26 times and helping his side to the North West Counties Division One Title.

Midfielder Sanders (pictured), 27, captained Newcastle to the play-off semi finals in 2015, scoring 16 goals and being selected for the league’s team of the season.

He can operate anywhere in midfield and has non-league experience at Kidsgrove Athletic, Leek Town and Hednesford Town.

Dabbers manager Phil Parkinson said Stair is an important addition to the squad.

“Theo is a natural scorer and although he’s been floating around the lower levels, he knows he can play at a higher standard and I’m pleased he’s come to Nantwich Town to do that.”

And he feels Sanders will “fit like a glove” into the team.

“Tim is extremely thought of in the local circuit and has been extremely loyal to Newcastle.

“He should have been playing higher a long time ago.

“He ‘chanced his arm’ with Hednesford when I first tried to sign him last season.

“However, it didn’t work out for him there, their style of football at the time was never going to get the best out of Tim Sanders.

“For me, him coming here fits like a glove, he is definitely a Nantwich Town type of player.

“He has the same ideas as myself and I’m really looking forward to seeing how far he can push himself here.

“He is an excellent trainer and with his experience, he knows how to lead on the pitch and in the changing room.

“In my opinion I have signed another winner and one to watch.

“He is definitely one the fans will enjoy watching, but this is a step up and Tim has to back my judgment and prove to everyone he can deliver at the NPL level.”
