Staff from South Cheshire College were honoured after winning “Exporter of the Year” in the South Cheshire Chamber’s Business Awards 2016.
The college’s international department scooped the prize at the 20th annual Business Awards ceremony held at Crewe Hall.
Since forming in 2014, the International Team has welcomed more than 1,300 students from across the world to the Crewe-based college.
Links have been formed and developed worldwide with many European and Asian schools, leading to recruitment of students on short and full-time courses.
£1 million has been made during the last year, with students returning to their homes richer for their Cheshire based experience.
Families in Nantwich, Crewe and surrounding areas play a crucial role in the success of the programme, by providing international students with a valuable ‘homestay’ experience.
The international department has found work experience placements for the students with businesses across the region.
The dynamic development made in the short space of time was recognised by The Travel Visa Company who sponsored and had input into the winners of the award.
Head of International Yvette Robinson, said: “We were over the moon to win this award.
“Our team has worked extremely hard to build the department to this standard since starting the venture two years ago.
“We will continue to expand our provision over the forthcoming year and so encourage any local families interested in our Homestay Programme, or Cheshire-based businesses willing to offer our students work experience placements, to get in touch.”
