Andy White prepares for a throw-in

Nantwich Town favourite Andy White has left to join National League North side Southport.

White leaves the Weaver Stadium after four successful seasons at left-back for the Dabbers, winning a Player of the Year award three consecutive seasons.

The former Crewe Alex youngster was also named in the Northern Premier League Team of the Year for the second consecutive season in an outstanding campaign that saw him make his 200th appearance for Nantwich, netting five goals.

The 24-year-old joins Southport on a free transfer.

On Twitter, White told Dabbers fans: “The last three years @TheDabbers have been a pleasure and I’ve made some great memories with the players, staff and fans… all the best.”

Southport Head of Development Mark Wright said: “Alan Lewer and I both know Andy extremely well, we’ve watched him for some time now so we’re delighted to get the deal done.

“He can play at left back or left wing back and he’ll bring some real balance to the side.”

White is the latest in a line of first team players to leave Nantwich after the departure of management team Phil Parkinson and Neil Sorvel.

But new Nantwich boss Dave Cooke is confident of re-building the squad over the summer, with some key players like Sam Hall and Sean Cooke already pledging their future to the Dabbers.
