Sean Cooke, Nantwich Town v Mickleover Sports

Nantwich Town slumped to another defeat today and slid closer to the relegation zone in the Evo-Stik Premier League.

The Dabbers were beaten 2-1 at the Weaver Stadium by Mickleover Sports.

Nantwich took the lead when Courtney Wildin powered through the defence and fired a shot into the top corner on 11 minutes.

The hosts dominated in the first half and went close to doubling the lead on a number of occasions.

Matt Bell curled one just over the bar, and Sean Cooke and Joel Stair both went close before the break.

But the visitors came out for the second half with renewed vigour, and were level on 47 minutes.

A free-kick to the back post found its way to Pablo Mills who powered a header home past Fabian Spiess.

It seemed to shake Nantwich and Mickleover began to seize control.

And seven minutes later, the visitors were in the lead when Andrew Dales was played through and he rounded Spiess to fire into an empty net.

Jamie Morgan came on for the injured David Forbes on the hour mark, as they looked for a route back.

Cooke and Hughes tried to combine but to no avail, and the Dabbers could not find the spark needed.

The loss leaves Nantwich in 19th spot, and facing a New Year’s Day road trip to Barwell FC as they look to return to winning ways.
