fire crews cronkinson pub

Fire crews tackled a blaze involving a gas box outside the Cronkinson pub in Stapeley, Nantwich.

Two crews were called to the incident at the family pub on Pear Tree Field at around 4.40pm today (March 1).

Firefighters from Nantwich and Crewe used two breathing apparatus, one hose reel and a covering jet to extinguish the flames.

They then used a large fan and fine water spray.

The pub’s car park was sealed off during the incident and the cause is being investigated.

Cronkinson bosses said on Facebook: “The pub is closed until further notice. We will be up and running as soon as we can.”

In a separate incident, crews were called to a wheelie bin fire in Wistaston at 5pm today.

One appliance from Crewe was called to Broughton Lane where they found a fire had spread from a bin to the side of a house.

Ash from the log burner had caused accidental ignition of the wheelie bin.

Crews put out the fire and damped down.
