Police are appealing for information after a driver failed to stop at the scene of a collision in Shavington.

The incident happened at 8.55am on Sunday March 24 on Newcastle Road, opposite the White Hart pub.

A white Range Rover towing a brown horse box collided with a cyclist taking part in an organised event.

The collision happened as the car was overtaking the cyclist.

The driver of the Range Rover failed to stop at the scene and failed to report the collision to the police.

The cyclist, a 37-year-old man, suffered a broken thumb and a severe concussion as a result of the collision.

PC Peter Kotlar said: “We want to appeal to the driver of the Range Rover to come forward and speak to us.

“Also if there was anyone in the area who might have seen the Range Rover, or someone who might have dashcam footage then please come forward and speak to us.

    You have Waited two weeks before making this appeal. Most people’s CCTV or dash-cam will have been over-written by now.

    In future, please make appeals on the same day, or next day.
