The Nantwich Show will be a one-day Saturday event in 2021, but will not longer include the Cheese and Dairy Awards, it emerged today.

The show, cancelled this year because of the COVID-19 pandemic, will take place on Saturday July 24 next year – the first time for 120 years it has been held on a weekend.

But it will not include the International Cheese and Dairy Awards – which will be held as a separate event.

Nantwich Agricultural Society say the weekend format aims to encourage all sectors of the local community to attend and support it.

Chairman of the Show, Michael John Parkin said: “The aim is to offer our local communities a welcome focus during a time of recovery for us all.

“Our residents and businesses have always supported us well and we urge them to continue to do so and aid the sustainability of The Nantwich Show and local economy.”

The Show has been out of operation for two years due to adverse weather conditions in 2019 and coronavirus in 2020.

However, organisers say they are committed to a return to the Showground at Dorfold Hall.

And they promise it will be bigger and better than ever with local trade stands, livestock, country pursuits displays, a cookery theatre, a creative craft pavilion, food hall and more.

A date for these awards will be announced in due course.

The decision for the two shows to part ways after an association of 120 years has been a difficult one, organisers said.

Michael-John Parkin added: “We would like to thank the Awards and the committee for their support over the years.

“Moving forward we will be retaining our historical links with them by planning attractions at each event.

“The Chairman of the Nantwich Agricultural Society will still be involved with the Awards as an Agricultural Ambassador.

“We wish the International Cheese and Dairy Awards every success for the future.”
