Highfields Academy - Alzheimers fundraiser

Three Nantwich pupils have been having a right laugh – and raising hundreds of pounds for charity into the bargain!

Highfields Academy youngsters Zachary Lawson, Max Hastings and Oliver Taylor (all aged 11) have been encouraging fellow pupils to “get giggling and get giving” for the Alzheimer’s Society.

They organised a school-wide “Joke Competition” which proved so popular it helped raise more than £120.

Headteacher Vicki Hughes said: “We are incredibly proud of three of our Year 6 pupils who came up with a brilliant idea of organising a school-wide Joke Competition, combining their sense of fun with a real desire to support an important cause.

“The competition invited pupils from across the school to submit their funniest, most creative jokes – and the response was amazing!

“We were overwhelmed with fantastic entries that had us all laughing.”

And in assembly, the winners were announced to excitement and applause.

“We are proud of everyone who took part and helped spread so much laughter,” added Vicki.

“Most importantly, a big thank you to Zach, Max, and Oliver T for their creativity, kindness and initiative.

“Not only did they make us laugh, but they also raised valuable funds-an incredible £120.30- and awareness for a great cause.

“What an inspiring example of pupil leadership!”

And here are some of the winning jokes which we’re sure will raise a smile or two!
