South Cheshire ‘George Formby’ Ukulele Society (1) (1)

Members of South Cheshire George Formby Society are to stage an evening of entertainment, food, and music on Friday June 27 at Wistaston Memorial Hall.

The society steps back in time to rediscover the magic of one of Britain’s most cherished entertainers in George Formby.

He was famous for his cheeky charm, infectious humour, and iconic ukulele tunes that lit up stages and hearts throughout the 1930s and 1940s.

The evening begins at 5.15pm with a one-man show from Jonathan Baddeley, Vice President of The George Formby Society.

A passionate fan and expert collector of Formby memorabilia, his performance will blend stories, song, and plenty of sing-along moments in a heart-warming tribute.

From 6.15pm to 7pm, there will be supper provided by local favourite Mick The Chips of Willaston.

Then from 7.30pm with a toe-tapping concert will take place featuring members of South Cheshire Branch George Formby Society and spirited newcomers.

Tickets are £10 per person, with £2 concert entry and optional raffle tickets available on the night.

Co-organiser Gail Kinrade said: “This evening is all about celebrating community and the timeless music that brings us together.

“George Formby had a way of lifting spirits, and we aim to do the same – with plenty of laughs, songs, and shared memories.”

Since its founding in 1994, South Cheshire Branch George Formby Society has grown into a community of music lovers, united by a passion for ukuleles and George Formby.

More events are lined up for 25th July, 22nd August, 26th September, 24th October, 28th November, and 19th December.
