Is it any wonder the public’s perception of CEC is very poor?
The article of 8th May re “Best Value Notice” by ministers prompted me to ask a question of CEC of who would constitute the Independent Assurance Panel, and their relevant qualifications.
I don’t expect their names but just a general outline of their expertise.
We need to know that their skills are of benefit to our area, eg not London centric. It will cost us a small fortune see Warrington’s new post.
I now have asked three (yes, 3) times only received an automated responses on each occasion telling me that they aim to get back within five working days.
I asked in my original contact that they treat this as a simple enquiry and that if they could not, I ask under FOI.
Absolutely nothing in response. The dates of my contacts are 11th May, 23rd May and today 19th June.
It is so sad, especially in respect of C&N, that we have to put up with CEC’s dismal performances on many fronts.
Why they can’t see that trying to take the public along with them, even if the news is bad, and explaining it would improve the public’s perception.
It shows lack of leadership from officers and councillors alike.

I waited several weeks over the 5 week stipulated time frame for a response from CEC on what I am getting from my Parish Council for the monies we pay each year via rates. Only to be informed, contact your local Parish Council. Also the same Parish council never had any information on their website, past accounts etc, until late last year. Still don’t know what I am paying for.
Other issues have taken nearly a year for a response – Fix My Street, to name it.
CEC must be very busy indeed – sarcasm abounds.
