Thousands of free places for summer activities are available for children across Cheshire East.
Parents and carers of children eligible for income-related free school meals can now book activities online as part of the scheme run by Cheshire East Council.
CEC is working with local schools, childcare providers and community and voluntary organisations to provide activities over the summer holidays.
These include sports, arts and crafts, baking, games and trips out.
The holiday activities and food programme (HAF) has been running since 2021 and is available to children aged 5 to 16.
It also includes those with special educational needs and disabilities, while including a nutritious meal for each participant.
Earlier this year the Department for Education announced that more than £200m would be provided to councils to keep HAF going for another year until the end of 2026.
There are limited spaces available to support children and young people who do not receive income-related free school meals but would benefit from the scheme.
Examples could be supporting a child with a disability, or those supported by a social worker or other professional.
Cllr Laura Crane, chair of Cheshire East Council’s children and families committee, said: “The extension of funding for this scheme highlights the many benefits it brings to eligible children across Cheshire East, who will now continue to have the opportunity to have fun, learn a new skill, make new friends and receive a nutritious meal during the holidays at no extra cost.
“We’re continuing to work closely with local providers, community and voluntary groups to make these activities the best that they can be to ensure that everyone who attends has a really enjoyable experience.
“Bookings are now open, so I’d urge eligible families to browse through our booking platform and secure their place on one of these fantastic sessions.”
The range of sessions available throughout the summer half term can be found on the HAF booking platform.
