The Summer Youth Project has returned to Crewe Lyceum and will be showing a production of “Annie” this month.
The project is back for its third year and will see around 90 young people taking part during August to bring the hard knock tale of Annie to life.
Their hard work will culminate in a two-night show at the theatre on Friday August 22 and Saturday August 23.
Annie’s story features beloved songs like Tomorrow, Hard Knock Life, and Maybe, and promises to delight audiences of all ages.
The annual Summer Youth Project is led by the theatre’s Creative Learning department and was created to give girls and boys aged between 8-18 a chance to experience and participate in live theatre.
The project has been sponsored by local firms My Cab Crewe and Abacus Painting and Decorating.
Abacus CEO Victor Niemczyk said: “Community is extremely important so this opportunity to support Annie is an honour.
“If we invest in our young people, then we are investing in the future of the community.
“My daughter has always been involved in theatre and acting so when we were asked to sponsor this production of Annie, it was simply putting community investment and my daughter’s passion for theatre together.
“The arts need our support.”
Sarah Wright, of My Cab Ltd, added: “My Cab are proud to sponsor the summer project of Annie.
“The theatre is a huge part of Crewe’s history and we are so pleased that we could aid a project that supports the local community and gives the children an opportunity to participate in such an amazing project for the summer.”
My Cab are also offering a 10% discount to all patrons attending the events at the Lyceum.
Don’t miss your chance to support the stars of tomorrow as they bring Annie to life on the Crewe Lyceum stage this August.
Performances are on Friday 22 August at 7.30pm, and Saturday 23 August at 2.30pm and 7.30pm. Tickets cost £17.
