Police are hunting e-bike yobs who committed a string of offences in Nantwich last night (August 23).
It follows reports of a number of youths with face coverings riding around on e-bikes illegally and terrorising families.
In one report, they knocked over a man walking with his shopping on Mill Island (pictured) at around 6pm.
The man was then allegedly assaulted when he confronted the yobs.
One witness said: “They were wearing complete face coverings so could you could not see their faces, they came at such speed.
“The man was so shaken, people around were helping him to make sure he was ok.
“I have seen these youngsters regularly on Mill Island, usually between two and four of them, all on e-bikes with faces covered.
“The public should be aware of them of this lot, we do not know what they are capable of doing, it’s very scary.”
In another incident last night, a young family were threatened by the e-bike gang on Barony Park.
A witness posted: “A group of masked lads approached us on e-bikes and threatened to stab our families.
“The police came and we think they’ve managed to arrest one of the lads, but the others are still at large.
“These menaces were riding on the pavement doing a wheelie and nearly knocked a three-year-old girl out of her father’s arms.”
Nantwich Police confirmed they were investigating the incidents.
In a statement, they said: “Officers are investigating multiple reports of two males committing offences whilst on an illegal E Bike last night.
“Response officers attended and identified numerous victims and witnesses to incidents across the town from Mill Street to the Barony Park.
“We are currently obtaining evidence and are confident we will positively identify those involved.
“If anyone has any images or CCTV footage of the incidents that occurred at around 6pm last night please contact Cheshire Police on 101 quoting reference IML2161301.”

I saw them speeding up wellington road a year ago. Two of them, full balaclavas on at 4pm, brazen as you like. I was crossing the road and didn’t see/hear them until they were right behind me.(on the wrong side of the road) can’t help but think had i not turned around when i did they would have had my bag off my shoulder. It would be nice to see a visible police presence in and around nantwich.
Calling it a crime spree is a bit over the top. Anti social behaviour definitely and not nice for the victims but crime spree, come on let’s not get carried away.
The police know they are around, mostly running drugs and shop lifting, but due to the likelihood of a conviction being successful the police seem to not be interested in catching these idiots.
Probably the same group that have been seen in Faddiley in recent weeks. Why is it so difficult to catch these toe-rags?
What’s happened to crime prevention, why let it go until something happens.
As stated before, the 8% increase in the England & Wales population since 2010 means that 12,000 more officers need to be recruited just to get police/public ratios back to the same level.
Most forces operate single-crewing despite the fact that one officer on his or her own is far more likely to be assaulted than if a double-crewed patrol attends, which is one reason why since resignation rates started increasing in 2013/14, voluntary resignations have contributed more than retirements to the overall attrition rate and the national overall attrition rate for 2022/23 stands at 6.8 per cent.
Birch them. An e-bike rider in Crewe, just missed myself as I was attempting to step onto the zebra crossing, which was in favour for myself to walk across the road. Good job I took an additional look to my right, otherwise, I would have been knocked to the ground and I have no doubt that arsehole would have sped off.
I have seen these characters near both Cronkinson Oak and Vauxhall, nearly flattened myself last week, they are silent and very fast, faster than a car on a residential st
