A new life-saving defibrillator has been installed and unveiled at Wrenbury Village Hall in Wrenbury.
Local MP Aphra Brandreth, for Chester South and Eddisbury, joined community leaders and volunteers at the official unveiling.
It comes after months of fundraising by residents in the village for the equipment.
Community groups which helped fundraise include Wrenbury Village Club, Wrenbury and District Model Railway Club, Wrenbury Village Hall Trust and Wrenbury Parish Council.
An accessible defibrillator in the village greatly increases the chances of survival for anyone who suffers a cardiac arrest.
There are around 30,000 sudden cardiac arrests outside hospital in the UK each year, with a survival rate of less than one in 10.
Using a defibrillator within three minutes of a cardiac arrest can improve a person’s chance of survival by 70%.
Aphra Brandreth MP said: “It is great to be in Wrenbury alongside the team of volunteers from the local community who have campaigned for this life-saving device.
“It is the culmination of hard work and I would like to thank all who have been involved and have donated to this cause.
“Defibrillators can make all the difference when someone has suffered a cardiac arrest and we need better provision of them alongside people trained with cardiopulmonary resuscitation to give patients the best chance of survival.
“Well done once again to all involved and it has been a pleasure and an honour to be here today to celebrate Wrenbury’s community.”
