Police have vowed to tackle e-bike offenders “robustly” after one man was arrested and charged.
A 27-year-old man from Crewe has been charged with dangerous driving, having no insurance, and driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence.
It comes after reports of two men committing offences while on an illegal e-bike in the Mill Street and Barony Park areas of Nantwich at the weekend.
The 27-year-old has been remanded in custody and is due to appear in court today (August 28).
A Nantwich Police spokesperson said today: “We know concerns around the dangerous and illegal use of e-bikes are an issue for our communities.
“We want to reassure you that we will continue to deal with these offences robustly.
“If you know who is riding these bikes dangerously around your area, please tell us so we can tackle it together and keep our roads and communities safe.”
Residents with information can report it to police by calling 101, online through the Cheshire Police website, or anonymously through Crimestoppers.
Police are appealing for any images or CCTV footage of the recent incidents to contact Cheshire Police quoting reference IML2161301.

real Dabber you are living in the past see something, report it to the police they are not clairvoyants of course you as a resident are duty bound to do your bit, just think if everyone stayed stumm, just how many crimes would be tackled, don’t lie down and wail why bother me, just think yes why not you , just what else are you doing today that is important,? if you want a good community first step starts with you!!
Realdabbed – stop carping and support the police. They do a difficult job and your negative comments don’t help.
Again, Nantwich folk are being asked to do the police’s job for them – while the very presence that should deter criminals is invisible.
These incidents with high-powered e-bikes ripping through estates and public spaces is deathly.. They create fear, especially for the frail and elderly.Families are left anxious, children intimidated.
The statistics don’t lie- Nantwich recorded 72 crimes per 1,000 people in 2025 – 24% higher than the Cheshire average. The community feels abandoned.
So where is the deterrent? Where is the visible presence to stop this at source, before someone gets seriously hurt? What’s the actual plan to reassure residents who are tired of hearing “report it” while seeing no real action on the ground?
Nantwich has grown, its contributions through rates and taxes have risen, but the protection and service we receive have gone backwards. The question is simple, how long are residents expected to put up with this?
