A Nantwich man who scooped £100,000 in TV’s latest big reality show “The Inheritance” told today why he shared it out with fellow contestants!
Cam Douglas, 29, won the vote among his fellow finalists to be the ultimate Prime Beneficiary on the Channel 4 show, which hit our TV screens earlier this week.
And he received a whopping £100,000 fortune from The Deceased’s estate.
But big-hearted Cam, originally from Yorkshire, then stunned his fellow contestants by sharing his winnings with them!
It meant the scaffolder gifted £20,000 each to Emma, Hafsah, Hannah and Jesse.
While Cam inherited a total of £30,000, wedding planner Hannah and student Jesse received £28,200 each, marketing manager Hafsah pocketed £27,700 and paramedic Emma took home £23,800.
Cam, who lives on Kingsbourne with his parents and sister, told Nantwich News: “To be honest, I got so close to these people, I just felt it was the right thing to do!
“My dad taught me integrity and in that strong room it is literally a battle between your head and your heart.”
Cam told how the show was filmed over the course of three and a half weeks about six months ago, during which time he spent 16 hours a day with the fellow contestants.
“We’re still close and chat every day on our WhatsApp groups,” he added.
“To be able to change the lives of four other people too, I am so happy and proud.”
Cam was one of thousands who applied for the show and after a rigorous vetting process over five months, he secured his spot.
“When I saw it pop up, I just thought I’d give it a go as I’m always up for an adventure.”
And the show is adding an extra boost to his sideline of making comedy videos on social media, where he already has hundreds of thousands of followers.
“I just started making daft videos on Snapchat a few years back, and some of my mates said they were really funny and I should make more and put it out there,” he added.
“And it really snowballed from there!”
Cam currently has around 160,000 followers on Tik Tok and 90,000 followers on Instagram watching his content.
But with £30,000 extra in his bank, he now plans to go travelling and make a video blog of his adventures abroad.
He added: “I’ve had debt hanging over my head for years, I can’t describe the feeling of a fresh start.”
