Ravensmoor played host to the first-ever Farmer’s Dash as locals, farmers and clubs came together for a morning of exercise and community spirit, writes Jonathan White.
Led by Paul McIntyre, founder of Farmers Pants bike rides and Dabbers Dash at Barony Park, the new 5km run/walk started from the layby with the phone box opposite The Farmer’s Arms pub.
Participants followed a scenic country route with half-mile turn-back points, making it suitable for all ages and abilities.
The day also featured a Farmer’s Pants bike ride setting off on an 11.5-mile route, continuing a local tradition of combining fitness and community engagement.
Paul said: “A big well done to everyone who joined in our first autumn Farmer’s Pants ride and Farmer’s Dash run/walk!
“Around 10 of us took part — it’s clear that cycling remains strong, and it’s brilliant to see the run course now taking shape too.
“A special thank you to young farmer Harry Worth, who helped mark out the 5km route with clear markers every half mile.
“It’s great to see this space supporting one another beyond just fitness.
“We shared information from Mentell, encouraging men to look after their mental health, and from Ged Flynn, CEO at Papyrus, which supports young people up to 35.
“Over the coming months, we’ll continue building links with Papyrus to raise awareness and support locally.
“It’s a real joy to continue the Farmer’s Pants tradition through the colder months.
“The countryside is still stunning this time of year, and these get-togethers remind us how good it feels to be outdoors together.

The autumn and winter meet-ups offer options from a relaxed 11.5-mile bike ride in the shape of a pair of underpants on the map, and a 5km run/walk suitable for beginners.
Both start from the same layby in Ravensmoor, promoting community, health, and fun.
