Pupils at Stapeley Broad Lane Primary School in Nantwich have received a donation of reflective vests as part of Road Safety Week, helping students get to and from school more safely.
The donation, from David Wilson Homes, includes 60 hi-vis vests for pupils to wear while walking down busy streets, ensuring they can be easily seen when visibility is reduced on darker evenings.
Road Safety Week is an awareness campaign that is organised by Brake.
Every year, more than 1,700 people die on UK roads and another 30,000 receive serious, life-changing injuries.
Brake works to reduce that number and make sure that travel is as safe as possible.
Sophie Warr, at Stapeley Broad Lane Primary School, said: “We are incredibly grateful for the generous donation of high-visibility vests to our school.
“This thoughtful contribution will help keep our pupils safe during outdoor activities and trips. Thank you for supporting our children’s safety and well-being – it truly makes a difference!”
Claire Jarvis, managing director at David Wilson Homes North West, said: “We want to ensure the children in the local community remain visible and safe when walking to and from school and our donation to Stapeley Broad Lane Primary School will hopefully help the pupils when they are on school excursions, too.
“We actively support school pupils at this time of year as we endeavour to help their efforts to commute on foot and the vests have proven to be both effective and practical.”
