A new play area and new Alpraham and Calveley Village Hall are helping to reconnect local families and bring life back to the community.
The play area, which features an adventure trail, play tower with slide, multiple swings including a basket swing, totem poles, and a tractor springer, was opened by Ward Councillor Becky Posnett.
A children’s party was held for local families to mark the occasion, and young Martha was the first to run straight to the swings!
Neil Copeland, chair of Alpraham & Calveley Community Council, said: “The new village hall is at the heart of our efforts to reignite a sense of community missing for some time.
“People living in the same areas are getting to know each other again.”
Cllr Posnett added: “It’s fantastic to see this space buzzing with life.”

Designed to complement the timber-clad hall and rural surroundings, the playground uses natural materials including wood and green recycled plastic panels.
“We wanted a design that fits the countryside and feels like a natural extension of the timber hall,” added Neil.
The project also addressed misconceptions about the area’s demographics.
“We thought the community was all older people,” said a resident involved in the development.
“But about a quarter are under 30 with young families, so an outdoor play space was essential.”
“Residents also appreciate the seating, which is essential for parents supervising their children,” Neil added.
“We are fortunate to have great people to work with.
“Thanks to Stephen Wright for the funding application, the FCC Communities Foundation for the Grant, and Creative Play for delivering such a first-class facility.
“Their team was professional and helpful every step of the way.
“Creative Play was chosen for their attentive approach to residents’ concerns, quality proposal, and commitment to aftercare, including a five-year maintenance package.
“They gave us the best solution and quality. Being local made a real difference, we know they’ll be there if we need them.”
The playground sits behind the Village Hall with free parking and easy access.
