Five people have been arrested Nantwich in the first week of a police December crackdown in drink and drug driving.
Cheshire Police are taking part in the national campaign called Operation Limit.
And it has led to a sharp rise in arrests in a single Nantwich ward area.
In just seven days, police have made five arrests in the North and West town centre ward alone.
Three were on suspicion of drink driving and two were for allegedly drug driving.
All those arrested reside in Crewe and Nantwich and include four males and one female with average age of just 23.
A police spokesperson said: “With the festive party season now underway, we’re urging everyone to plan their nights out responsibly
“If you’re drinking, don’t drive. If you’re driving, don’t drink.
“Drugs — whether illegal or misused — will cost you your licence.
“You can still be over the limit the morning after. Thank you to the majority who make the right choices. Let’s keep everyone safe this Christmas.”
Operation Limit is a month-long co-ordinated initiative by the National Police Chiefs’ Council (NPCC) to target those who choose to drive under the influence.
Each participating force is using different tactics including vehicle stops and roadside testing as well as undertaking education and engagement events.
