Families in Willaston facing financial hardship have received a boost this Christmas through the work of Sarah Jane Wood Charity and Wybunbury United Charities.
A total of £600 has been distributed to families in need, helping to ease financial pressures many face during the festive period.
The charity, which has supported Willaston residents for nearly a century, continues a tradition of providing help at Christmas.
The Sarah Jane Wood Charity was established in 1928 following a generous bequest and has played an important role in supporting the township of Willaston.
It is administered by trustees appointed by Willaston Parish Council and provides grants and gifts to residents facing hardship.
Cllr Craig Bailey and Honorary Freeman Keith Ward said: “The charity fund exists to support residents of Willaston who are experiencing financial hardship.
“Since 1928, the Sarah Jane Wood Charity has been providing gifts at Christmas, and we are fortunate to be able to continue this tradition.
“We hope that this support helps to ease the burden for families who are struggling to make ends meet this Christmas.”
Trustees urge residents facing financial difficulties or those who know someone who could benefit from support to find out more about the Sarah Jane Wood Charity and the Willaston Charity Fund via the Willaston Parish Council website.
