Mobile phone giant EE have closed down their shop in Nantwich town centre.
Employees at the store on Pepper Street have been offered positions in existing EE stores nearby, including Crewe and Northwich.
The company did not provide a reason for closing the store, which was often busy and particularly popular with older residents.
An EE spokesperson told Nantwich News: “We can confirm that this store has closed.
“Customers can still experience the most personal and local service in our stores in Crewe and Northwich.
All four staff members from the Nantwich store were offered positions in other store locations nearby.
“We continue to invest in the most personal and local service and remain committed to the high street in the right locations for our customers.”
The empty premises is back on the market as landlords look for a new retail tenant.
It’s one of a number of empty units in the town centre on Pepper Street, High Street and Beam Street.

Maybe a nail bar a Turkish barbour’s or a vape shop would be good
It’s been closed for weeks!!!
I was working there when it was Phones 4 U and it managed to be sustainable then it was quite busy the store was hitting it’s kpi’s and making yearly growth. This is more a case of using big city store models and general ways of day to day operations that just don’t work in the same way in a smaller more local business location
WSP – what is wrong with this council, yes it may be a bit more expensive to work over the evening (23.00hrs to 06.00hrs) but with the impact on traffic through Nantwich road system, especially HGV,s it will be ridiculous.
Why is it taking such a long time to build a crossing, this is why infrastructure projects cost so much no suitable forward planning, just shut the road a let everybody make their own diversions! What will milestone lane & Waterlode be like???.
I presume the project planing teams are working from home and not been out to see what issues there incompetence will cause.
Snail bar perhaps !
Unfortunate but perhaps not a surprise Nantwich is too small of a town to enable EE sustain a profitable business.Hopefully the people will be redeployed and CE will not open another Vape store or charity shop
Real shame, very convenient for my family, really good staff. So now it’s a drive to Crewe or Winsford.
