Flag Lane crossing - ebike incident

Cheshire Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman was seriously injured in a collision with an e-bike which failed to stop at the scene.

The victim, a woman in her 50s, was on the pedestrian crossing on Flag Lane in Crewe near to St Mary’s Street when she was hit by someone on a Sur-Ron style electric motorbike.

She suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital. The incident happened at 12.30pm on Sunday (January 4th).

The e-bike rider did not stop at the scene and was last seen travelling through the town towards Earle Street.

He is described as male and wearing black clothing and had a rucksack on his back.

Cheshire Police PC Ian Smith said: “I’d urge anyone with dash cam footage of the bike in question or the collision itself to contact police.

“The same goes for anyone who witnessed the collision and has not yet spoken to police, or has any information on the incident or identity of the rider.”

It’s the latest serious incident involving an e-bike after an elderly man was injured in a collision with one at a crossing on Waterlode in Nantwich last year.

Anyone with information should contact Cheshire Police on 101 or via the website quoting IML 2245538.

Alternatively, information can be given anonymously by contacting Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

  1. Drug runner obviously, the town is full of them

  2. I’ll bet my house it was one of the illegal ones which will go like a rocket without the need to pedal. Legal Ebikes will only go 15mph before the motor switches off.

  3. This is the exact problem with them….. I get it…. they are cheap go fast and allow someone without a car for whatever reason to go long distances fast but they are potentially lethal for anyone else.

Whomever has not stopped for obvious reasons, if they do they will lose the bike straight away and be admitting a criminal offence. But REALLY come on you hit someone on a crossing.

Hope the lady is ok and through no fault of her own she ended up in this predicament.
