Tarporley High School has unveiled its major new teaching block, marking a significant milestone for the school and its community.
The new 9,900 sq ft building provides 12 new classrooms, two of which are designed for advanced digital learning, as well as accessible toilets, new storage areas and a bright, welcoming environment for teaching and learning.
It has been designed by Brock Carmichael Architects and built by Krol Corlett Construction, and was completed for Sandstone Trust, which oversees the school.
Specialist project consultants E3 Cube acted as the Employer’s Representative to help secure essential capital funding and provided project management, cost consultancy, and design compliance services.
Headteacher Jonathan Deakin said the new facilities will make a lasting difference for both staff and students.
He added: “We’re absolutely delighted with this new space. It really supports the continued growth and success of our school.
“With the school now full, it was important to have more room for everyone to work, learn and collaborate.
“This new environment gives staff and students more space to thrive and enjoy outstanding teaching and learning.
“I’d like to thank Sandstone Trust for their continued support, and Krol Corlett and Brock Carmichael for their care and professionalism.”
The extension replaces ageing mobile classrooms with a modern, permanent building designed to support high-quality, sustainable learning.
Jason Lowe, CEO of Sandstone Trust, added: “The new block at Tarporley High School is a real boost for our students, our staff and the whole community.
“As a Trust, we work hard to deliver the highest quality teaching and opportunities for personal growth, challenging everyone to be their very best. A huge thank you to all who made this happen.”
Krol Corlett’s project team delivered the works within a live school environment, maintaining safe access for pupils, staff and visitors throughout.
Site Manager Anthony Gerrard said: “Delivering projects in live education settings is something we take great pride in.
“At Tarporley, close collaboration with the school meant we could complete the work safely and efficiently, with no disruption to learning.”
Architect Thomas Bromley, from Brock Carmichael, added: “The new building makes for a much more productive learning environment.
“The block replaces 10 mobile classrooms, which had come to the end of their lives and will be much more conducive to learning.
“The new block boasts state-of-the-art building ventilation and draws on the heat in the external air to heat the building and running water.
“We’ve also installed solar panels on the roof to make the new unit as close to net zero as possible.”
