supermarkets - Nantwich Sainsburys

Costa Coffee is set to open a new store inside Sainsbury’s supermarket in Nantwich, it has been announced.

It will be one of up to 30 new Costa outlets opening in Sainsbury’s supermarkets across the UK in 2026.

The Nantwich store is scheduled to open by the end of February.

It follows a collaboration between the two companies that was announced in 2024.

Sainsbury’s closed its in-store cafe in Nantwich in April last year.

The supermarket giant, which has had a store off Middlewich Road in Nantwich for 30 years, shut 61 cafes in the UK amid a major overhaul which saw 3,000 jobs cut.

It’s believed Costa Coffee, which opened a new outlet in Nantwich town centre last year, has invested was more than £3 million to open in around 30 Sainsbury’s stores.

So far this year, the coffee shop chain has opened four new stores in Sainsbury’s Superstores in Monks Cross, Springfield (Chelmsford), Thanet West Wood Cross and Pepper Hill (Gravesend)

As well as the Nantwich one, they are due to open in February in Swindon, Bridgemead, Newport and Durham.

We have contacted Costa Coffee for a statement.

A Costa Coffee spokesperson has told other outlets: “We’re excited to continue expanding Costa Coffee’s presence across the UK, bringing more welcoming cafe spaces into Sainsbury’s supermarkets for shoppers to relax, unwind, and enjoy a great cup of coffee.”
