James and Sophie Need - England Golf Awards

Cheshire Golf Ltd has been named County of the Year at the prestigious England Golf Awards.

And Nantwich-based Need Golf Centre, near Reaseheath, was also a winner, scooping Facility of the Year Award.

With 50,000 annual visitors and an 85% return rate, Need Golf has transformed the local range into a hub where confidence, friendship and perception of the sport are reshaped.

The honours were presented at the England Golf Awards ceremony at The Hilton Manchester on Tuesday (March 3rd).

James Need, former pro and director behind Need Golf, said: “Standing in the room at the England Golf Awards and hearing our name announced as the #1 Golf Facility in England for 2026 was one of the proudest moments of my life.

“But what made it emotional wasn’t the title – it was thinking about the journey. From the early days with a vision and a belief that we could create something different… to building a place that people genuinely feel part of.

“This award has my name attached to it in moments like that – but it is so much bigger than me. This would not be possible without Sophie’s hard work, dedication and relentless appetite to be better.

“Behind the scenes she is very much the driving force. So much of what Need Golf has become comes from her determination to challenge standards, raise the bar and turn big ideas into reality.

“That energy echoes into the team who show up every single day with passion and purpose.

“It would also not be possible without our incredible customers who have supported us, trusted us, and helped shape what we are becoming.”
