A man has been charged in connection with the theft of more than £10,000 of cigarettes from various shops across South Cheshire, including in Audlem.

Michael Mongan, 26, from Heather Road, Birmingham appeared at Chester Magistrates on Wednesday March 11th to face six charges of theft from a shop.

The charges relate to thefts in Audlem, Middlewich, Sandbach, Knutsford, Wrexham and Ely.

He was remanded in custody to appear at Chester Crown Court on September 9th.

A 15-year-old boy from Cambridge has also been charged with five counts of theft from a shop relating to thefts in Audlem, Middlewich, Knutsford, Sandbach and Wrexham.

The teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was bailed with conditions not to enter Cheshire and will appear at Crewe Youth Court on April 23rd.

The thefts occurred between February 7th and March 7th 2026.

    Both should be forced to smoke 1,000 of these, one after another, without a break.

    They’d never steal another in case they’d have to do it all again.
