Participants prior to the Dash at Barony Park

Runners, walkers and families gathered at Barony Park in Nantwich on Saturday for the latest edition of the popular Dabbers Dash.

The free, informal monthly event drew a diverse crowd, with participants of all ages and abilities taking part.

Attendees could complete up to three-and-a-half laps of the park — roughly 5km — or opt for a shorter stroll, jog or wheel around the scenic green space.

Pride flags marked the start and finish areas, underlining the Dash’s ongoing commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion.

With no official timing or pressure, participants were encouraged to move at their own pace, whether running, walking or wheeling.

March’s event also highlighted Neurodiversity Celebration Week, a worldwide initiative aimed at challenging stereotypes and misconceptions around neurological differences.

Organisers said the morning reflected “the very best of Nantwich”, with a wide mix of runners, wheelchair users, families with pushchairs, cyclists and even dogs taking part under sunny spring skies, with daffodils in full bloom across the park.

A strong turnout from local neurodiversity group ‘Unmasked Together’ added a splash of colour, as members in bright pink tops gathered at the start line.

Two members Jess and Julie were given a special mention for kicking off the event with an enthusiastic countdown.

The event also provided an opportunity for neurodivergent families to connect with local support services in an informal setting — something organisers described as “invaluable” for sharing experiences and accessing advice.

Dabbers Dash is also helping to promote ‘Unmasked Together’, a social group for neurodivergent women founded by Diane Woolrich.

The group meets weekly at Regents Park on London Road, offering board games, conversation and wellbeing workshops in a supportive environment.

Organisers praised those who attended despite personal challenges, recognising that simply turning up can be a significant step for some.

Dabbers Dash was first launched in 2022 as a virtual alternative to Parkrun, encouraging active travel while campaigning for a perimeter path around Barony Park. It has since grown into a well-loved fixture on the town’s community calendar.

The next event is expected to take place in April. For updates, visit the Dabbers Dash Facebook group.
