Coach operator National Express are cutting services from April 13th – and is axing the only service which connects to Nantwich.

Among a number of routes being cut is the service 551 which from Liverpool to London which goes via Stoke-on-Trent, Birmingham and Heathrow.

This service also calls at Chester and Nantwich bus station for pick up and drop off.

It means both Nantwich and Chester have been removed from the National Express network completely.

Currently, the 551 service leaves Nantwich around 8.20am and take about six hours to get to London Victoria. It can cost as little as £11.20 one way.

A spokesperson for National Express told Nantwich News: “National Express service number 551 from Liverpool to London will cease to operate from 13 April 2026.

“This change is part of a comprehensive review of our national network and unfortunately services via Nantwich, Chester and Birkenhead are commercially unviable due to low passenger demand.

“We appreciate that some people will be disappointed by this change.

“Although there are no immediate plans to reinstate the service, we will keep this decision under review.”
