A Nantwich man is to stage a fundraising night in aid of a cancer charity after battling with throat and neck cancer.
Darren O’Connor has recruited former Liverpool FC goalkeeping legend Bruce Grobbelaar as guest at the fundraiser at Nantwich Town FC.
Darren wants to raise funds for Clatterbridge Cancer Charity after he went through 12 months of treatment.
He said: “I am in recovery whilst recovering I set up a mental health footballing group called club 45.
“This is for men over 40 who want to play football or get out of the house or just find new mates.
“I never realised how popular it would be until I did it!
“Now I have five men’s groups and a ladies group.
“But my big passion is to say thankyou to Clatterbridge because they saved my life.”
The charity night at Nantwich Town Football Club will take place on April 24th, with the tea lounge providing food.
Tickets include a two-course meal, live entertainment and stories with Grobbelaar, raffle and prize draws, as well as a live fashion show and more.
