A Nantwich Running Club member has smashed her personal best at the Boston UK Marathon.
Katie Latham was second female overall and made the podium on Sunday (April 12th).
But the biggest achievement was the 40-year-old smashing the three-hour marathon barrier for the first time, clocking an incredible 2hrs 55mins.
Katie said: “I’m a big advocate of encouraging women into sport.
“I’m 40 now and still running pbs, which is beyond my wildest expectations!
“Working as a chartered accountant and have two children. If I can do it, anyone can!”
Katie has been in outstanding form over almost every single event and distance over the past year.
She won the women’s category in the Nantwich 10k last year, and is also a regular duathlon competitor.
But she worked with coaches with the aim of running under three hours for a marathon for the first time, having previously struggled with the event.
And she smashed her previous personal best by 15 minutes, despite challenging headwinds of up to 20mph in Boston on Sunday.

Hi Bill!
Do Grow Up?……..
Stan Stan Stan……….Awesome run for “anybody., any age”…… then you add let alone a 40 year old female……
Being a female or being 40 are neither blockers or constraints which I think is the point she is getting across.
Awesome run…. for anybody
WOW! Congratulations to Ms Latham! – Awesome run indeed that for ‘Anybody’ any age let alone a 40 year old female! – Well done!👏👏👏
Enjoy staying Super-fit but don’t overdo it?🙏….
