
Nantwich Cricket Club returned to winning ways as the first team led a clean sweep of Saturday victories.
At promoted Bramhall, Ben Wright took 3-42 as the home side were bowled out for 177, five balls short of their 50-over allocation.
The Dabbers lost the in-form Ali Chughtai early in their reply but that proved to be their only setback as Wright (pictured – 56 not out) and Rob Jones (77 not out) put on an unbroken stand of 155 to see Nantwich home by nine wickets with 16 overs to spare.Dabb
It is a big weekend at Whitehouse Lane for the first team as they entertain Timperley (midday start) in the Premier League on Saturday, and Porthill Park (1pm start) in the ECB National Club Championship on Sunday.
The second team will travel to Timperley on Saturday, having recorded their first win of the season with an emphatic home win over Widnes.
Chris Simpson (48), Nick Bentley (43), James Michell (39) and Sam Williams (34) all made useful contributions as Nantwich made 248 all out from their 50 overs and Noah Birchall then produced a stellar bowling performance, taking 7-39 as the visitors were dismissed for 172.
To make it a clean sweep of Saturday wins, the third team beat Meir Heath 2nd XI. Robert Howell hit an unbeaten 85 as the Dabbers chased down a target of 190 with seven wickets to spare.
Nantwich Women’s first team got their league season off to a flying start with a 201-run win over Upton CC.
Sarah Nettleton’s unbeaten 72 helped set a formidable target of 264 for the visitors and Eleanor Sinker (4-17) and Emily Mason (4-7) wrapped things up pretty quickly.
And they followed that up with a win in the T20 Cup, Grace Michell hitting 43 in the Dabbers’ total of 133-6 and Bethan Hughes claiming 3-10 as Leyland CC ended 24 runs short of their target.
The Sunday third team suffered two defeats over the Bank Holiday weekend, going down by eight wickets to Brooklands on Sunday and losing a T20 Cup match at Urmston by 29 runs on Bank Holiday Monday.
