A charity football match is being staged at the Crewe Alexandra Stadium in aid of suicide prevention charity CALM.
A team called CALM 84 FC Crewe will play an Arena XI in the fundraiser at the Mornflake Stadium on Friday night (May 15th), kick off 7pm.
The match is open to spectators and has been sponsored by a number of local companies.
A CALM spokesperson said: “Calm 84 are a charity football team, whose ethos is to help increase mental health support, and to decrease the amount of suicides, and the devastating impact that it causes.
“The 84 in our name represents the amount of men in the UK that take their own lives.
“This is far too high of a number, and is something we would love to see reduce as much as possible.
“Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM), who are a suicide prevention charity that has loads of tools and resources to help people find the support they need, including a life-saving helpline for people who can’t see a way forward, have lost someone to suicide, or are worried about their friends or loved ones.
“£12.20 is enough to fund one potentially life-saving call.”
