
A man has been charged in connection with an incident in which police found an explosive device at a house in Nantwich.
Two men, aged 39 and 47, were arrested following reports of dangerous driving near to Edleston Road, Crewe.
Whilein custody, officers searched a house Cronkinson Oak, Nantwich, and found what was believed to be a small improvised explosive device.
The device has since been assessed by EOD and deemed safe.
As a result of the incident, nearby families were evacuated and a police cordon was put in place as a precautionary measure.
Cheshire Police today confirmed Ian Mitchell, 47, of Cronkinson Oak, Nantwich, has since been charged with failing to provide specimen for analysis as vehicle driver, breach of a sexual harm prevention order, and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.
He is set to appear at Crewe Magistrates Court on 4 February 2027.

If he elects for a Crown Court trial, it won’t take place until at least 2028!
