Second-half - Byron Harrison passes the ball for the Dabbers (1)

Striker Byron Harrison has left Nantwich Town to join rival Northern Premier League West side Kidsgrove Athletic.

Harrison was brought to the club by former Dabbers boss Ritchie Sutton in October 2022.

In the following three-and-a-half years he scored 59 goals and notched 27 assists in 175 Dabbers appearances.

He remained a constant presence in the Nantwich side combining with other forwards including Dan Cockerline, Callum Saunders, Kai Evans and Alex Panter.

He won the Nantwich Player of the Season award in 2024/25 and was the club’s top scorer in 2023/24.

He scored a record-breaking goal in the FA Cup away at Avro, clocked at 8.8 seconds, the fastest known Nantwich goal ever.

Harrison’s conduct on and off the pitch made him as popular with younger supporters as he was with older ones and had time for everyone.

His loyal father-in-law, who could always be seen, stood up, watching Nantwich games from the back of the main stand, will also be missed.

Harrison said: “Thank you so much to all of the wonderful people at Nantwich Town – you truly made my time at this club.

“All the best for the future and God bless.”

Nantwich Town chairman Jon Gold said: “Byron is without doubt one of the classiest and most sincere people I have ever met in all my years in doing this, a real class act.

“His contribution to our club, both on and off the field, has been immense and he has the utmost gratitude and respect of everyone at the club and will always be welcome here.

“Luke worked hard to retain Byron and made him a realistic and fair offer within our budget, but unfortunately it didn’t meet within Byron’s expectations and it’s his prerogative to sign for another club and to this end he goes with our very best wishes.”
