Richmond Village Nantwich celebrated “Care and Dignity Day” with its residents who wrote on hearts what the words meant to them.
The Village teamed up with Nantwich Sainsbury’s, on Middlewich Road, to offer cakes whose names began with the letters of the word ‘dignity’.
Residents then hung their comments on a tree in the entertainment area of the residential home on St Joseph’s Way.
Lynne Griffin, Village manager, said: “Many of our residents wished for good health and happiness this year, but a few did wish for days out to the seaside, plays, recitals, and visits to Remembrance Gardens.
“Our aim for 2012 is to make some of these wishes come true.”
Residents also joined in an “All British” themed tea with red, white and blue décor, rousing British music, and traditional fish ‘n’ chips served in newspaper.
Olwyn Payton, spokeswoman for Sainsbury’s, said: “It was a lovely afternoon.
“The definitions of care and dignity given by the residents were very touching.
“One lady wrote she wished ‘people would treat others as they would wish to be treated themselves’.”
