Andy White believes his time at Nantwich Town proves he can make a potential step up the Football League with parent club Crewe Alex.
Full-back White, 19, joined the Dabbers on loan in February and has turned out some impressive performances.
He crowned these with a a man of the match display in Saturday’s 0-0 draw with Hednesford Town.
And, although he understands the decision of whether or not he will be rewarded with a contract at the Alex is out of his hands, he is confident his performances in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League, a league he describes as similar to the Npower League Two, will stand him in good stead for the future.
He said: “Hopefully I’ll get a deal, I’ve seen a few Crewe matches and thought to myself I could do a job at that level, the step up isn’t as big as people think.
“I am enjoying my time here, at Crewe I was playing one reserve game every two weeks so it’s good to come here and get game time with a good set of players.”
The left-back has been part of a Nantwich side featuring seven players under the age of 21 for three consecutive games and White believes playing with lads he knows helps his game, in particularly left midfielder Zak Foster.
“Me and Zak like to play one-twos, I like to overlap him because he’s got pace and can get into the space.
“We’ve got a good bunch of young lads and we hope to finish the season unbeaten now which will put the lads in a good position for next year.”
