A pre-season ‘Nantwich Town FC Women vs Crewe Alex Legends’ charity football has helped raise hundreds of pounds for charity.
The match, held in memory of John Tomkins, raised £680 on the day and will go to The Christie cancer hospital and Action for Pulmonary Fibrosis.
Police say they are boosting presence significantly in Crewe and Nantwich tomorrow ahead of the Crewe Alex v Wrexham match.
They say “additional measures have been put in place to ensure the safety of all those attending”.

The leader of Cheshire East Council is urging the council to look into installing solar panels at some of its car parks across the borough.
Cheshire East is about to start work on a large-scale solar farm – which will generate renewable energy and reduce carbon emissions – on land next to the composting plant at Leighton Grange Farm in Crewe.
Nantwich Town have signed former Dabbers defender Ritchie Sutton in a player/coach capacity.
The 36-year-old centre-back previously played for the Dabbers in the 2009/10 season.

A second annual charity football match took place at the home of Crewe Alexandra has helped raise more than £3,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
The first match, last May 2021, was organised by club announcer and lifelong fan Andrew Scoffin, to raise funds for The Christie.
Nantwich Town will have Joe Robbins on loan from Crewe Alexandra until the end of the 21/22 season.
The club announced today that their League One neighbours agreed to extend the loan period.

Villagers in Wistaston and Willaston are mourning the death of popular Revd Ken Sambrook.
Ken passed away on Wednesday (November 10) after a brief spell in hospital.
