A Nantwich woman is tackling a 630-mile coastal trek to raise funds for St Luke’s Hospice.
Tracey Warren has set off on the adventure of a lifetime — walking the entire 630-mile South West Coast Path to raise vital funds for the hospice that has supported her family through the toughest of times.
She will walk for 64 days from Minehead to Poole Harbour, taking on the iconic trail’s rugged terrain involving over 114,000 ft of ascent and descent – equivalent to climbing Mount Everest nearly four times.
This epic journey is a heartfelt tribute to her mum and cousin Emma, both who battled breast cancer.
Tracey said: “Thirteen years ago, my mum found a lifeline in St Luke’s counselling and complementary therapies while recovering from breast cancer.
“A few years later, my cousin Emma and I were both diagnosed with BRCA2 — the hereditary gene that increases cancer risk.
“When Emma then faced her own breast cancer diagnosis, St Luke’s was there again with compassion and expert support.
“Thankfully, she’s now coming out the other side, stronger than ever.”
Tracey won’t be alone on her journey.
Her husband Matt – a self-confessed “walking sceptic” – is joining her for every step of the way.
They are covering all travel and accommodation costs themselves, ensuring every penny raised directly benefits families who rely on St Luke’s compassionate care.
Tracey added: “Because of our shared family story, and my own BRCA2 diagnosis, I carry a deep desire to live fully and freely — to embrace every moment and adventure while I can.
“Walking the South West Coast Path has been a dream of mine ever since I read The Salt Path by Raynor Winn.
“And I’m beyond grateful to now be making that dream a reality — raising money for St Luke’s along the way, and walking in honour of two truly brave, beautiful and inspirational women.”
Leanne Jones, fundraiser at St Luke’s Hospice, said: “Tracey’s journey is nothing short of extraordinary — not just in the miles she’s walking, but in the strength and commitment she’s demonstrating with every step.
“Her story is a powerful reminder of the impact St Luke’s can have during the hardest moments of people’s lives.
“We’re incredibly proud and grateful to have Tracey’s support, and we’re urging everyone to get behind her: share her story, donate if you can, and help us continue to provide the care and support that means so much to families like Tracey’s.”

The challenge of walking the 630-mile South West Coast Path will feature in the new movie “The Salt Path” which hits the big screens soon, starring Gillian Anderson and Jason Isaacs.
