Youngsters from the 26th South West Cheshire (1st Willaston) Cubs enjoyed an evening of railway rides and important rail safety education during a visit to Peacock Railway.
A group of 23 Cub Scouts and their leaders visited the miniature railway attraction, operated by the South Cheshire Model Engineering Society.
The Cubs, one of the largest Scout groups in South West Cheshire, took part in a rail safety session inside the clubhouse.
Society members showed the Cubs an educational film highlighting the dangers around main line railways.
Children should always stay away from railway tracks, only cross at official crossings with an adult, and stop, look and listen for trains.

They should never play near railways, run across tracks, or try to retrieve items from the line, and should always follow safety signs, barriers and staff instructions.
Afterwards, the Cubs were asked questions to test their understanding before experiencing rides on the miniature-gauge trains, which run along a track stretching for nearly a quarter of a mile.
Visitors also admired the society’s detailed raised Gauge 1 railway.
Measuring around 95 metres (310 feet) in length, it is believed to be the longest raised Gauge 1 railway of its kind in the North West.

The Peacock Railway is keen to offer similar experiences to other local charity and community groups.
