A Scout leader from Willaston has been honoured in the King’s Birthday Honours list.

Ian Potts has been awarded the MBE for services to young people in the Nantwich area.

Ian is leader of 26th South West Cheshire Scouts (Willaston Scouts) and a former district commissioner.

The honours citation said: “Ian has been a driving force behind Scouting across South West Cheshire.

“Whether leading strategy, supporting volunteers, or directly guiding his own group, his impact is felt across the district and beyond.”

He was one of four individuals involved in the Scout movement in Cheshire to receive honours.

Another included Jack Caine who was given an MBE as UK Commissioner for People (Scouts UK) and as Scout Leader for 1st Tarporley group.

The citation for Jack said: “Jack plays a vital national role supporting thousands of volunteers across the UK. Through his leadership in volunteer care, training, and wellbeing, he’s helping to shape a stronger, more inclusive Scouts movement for everyone.”

Marjorie and Neil Dutton were also honoured with MBEs for services to the movement in the Congleton area.

A Cheshire Scouts spokesperson said: “We are thrilled to share that four incredible volunteers from Cheshire Scouts have been awarded MBEs in the King’s Birthday Honours 2025.

“Each has been recognised for their exceptional dedication to young people and their local communities.”
