Nantwich Town Women continued their pre-season build-up with a home win against Port Vale FC Women, writes Jonathan White.
The Dabbers looked sharp in their 2-0 victory thanks to goals from Alicia Hatton and captain Levi Lander sealing the win.
It was also a landmark day for defender Harriet Knight, who made her 100th appearance for the Dabbers – becoming only the second women’s player to reach that incredible milestone.
Knight said: “I am proud to make my 100th appearance for Nantwich.
“I’ve been here since day one, and it’s been an incredible journey watching this club grow.
“Honoured to be part of it from the start, and excited to see what we can achieve together this season!”

Manager Dan Mellor was full of praise for his team.
He said: “We knew we were up against strong opposition from a higher league, but we backed ourselves, stuck to our principles, and played some excellent football.
“From back to front, we were the better side and fully deserved the result.
“It’s a great marker for where we are in pre-season, but the focus stays on building towards the start of the campaign.”
The Dabbers head into the 2025/26 season after a history-making year in which they stormed to the Cheshire Women’s & Youth Football League Premier Division title.
They will now compete in Tier 6 of the women’s football pyramid in the North West Women’s Regional League Division One South.
Their new league rivals include AFC Crewe, Altrincham, Chester, Ellesmere Port Town, Macclesfield FC, Manchester Laces, Runcorn Linnets, Warrington Town, and Wirral Phoenix.
