Autumn showers may be peppering South Cheshire this week after a hot summer.
But on the plus side – as well as being good for our gardens – are these stunning rainbows!
Sunshine and showers, with the sun lower in the sky, create the perfect conditions for these amazing colourful spectacles.
These images were captured by a reader from Morrisons car park in Nantwich at around 7.20pm last night (September 11).
They show a “double” rainbow, which forms when sunlight reflects twice inside a raindrop.

This second reflection causes the secondary rainbow to appear fainter and the path of light is also longer in the second reflection, leading to a weaker secondary bow.
And with the forecast set for more of the same over the next few days, there’s sure to be plenty more emerging in our skies.
Whether there really is a pot of gold at the end of each one remains to be seen…

Congratulations to the person who took the picture, it’s absolutely stunning.
