Fireworks and bonfire display in Queens Park in Crewe 2015

Villages across South Cheshire are gearing up to stage their annual bonfire and fireworks events over the next month, writes Jonathan White.

Despite this year’s Spooktacular event at Dorfold Park being cancelled, there are still plenty of displays for families to attend.

Wistaston Community Events will be staging their fireworks display on Saturday November 1st.

The event takes place at the Eric Swan Sports Ground/Brittles Pavilion (off Church Lane, behind Wistaston Church Lane Academy).

Entry is by cash donation. Gates open at 5.30pm, with judging of the fancy dress and pumpkin carving competitions from 6pm, before the main fireworks display begins at around 6.30pm.

The display will be delivered by Black Lab Fireworks. Bring cash for the bucket collection and refreshments, bring a torch.

Also on Saturday November 1st will be the ‘Betley Bonfire & Fireworks’ at Betley Court Farm, Main Road, Betley.

It is classed as one of the UK’s largest bonfires and fireworks display.

There is free onsite parking. Gates open 4pm, bonfire lit at 6pm, fireworks start at 8pm (approx.) https://www.betleybonfire.co.uk/

It is a ticket only event. Adult = £15 (plus booking fee), Child (under 14, plus booking fee) = £12. Children under 3 – free of charge.

On Sunday November 2nd, Berries Cafe in Wrenbury is holding its “Fireworks, Laser Show & Bonfire” at the community hub & cafe, Wrenbury Recreation Pavillion, Wrenbury.

Gates open 4:30pm, bonfire lit at 6pm, fireworks at 7pm. Catering and drinks available on the night.

Earlybird tickets (October): adult = £10, child = £5 (under 10); on the gate (numbers limited): adult £15, child (under 10) = £7. Raising money for MND Association.

On Bonfire Night Wednesday November 5th, Crewe Lions Club’s annual “Bonfire and Firework Extravaganza” will take place at Queens Park, Victoria Avenue, Crewe.

Gates open at 5pm. Food stalls, funfair. Admission prices (cash only) = Adult £10, children £5. Children under 3 – free entry.

On Friday November 7th, Willaston Primary Academy will hold its ‘Fireworks Extravaganza’ at the school on Derwent Close, Willaston. Gates open at 5:30pm, fireworks start at 7pm. Tickets available via: https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/fwsa

Also on Friday 7th November, a ‘Bonfire & Firework Spectacular’ will be held at The Bickerton Poacher, on Wrexham Road, Bickerton.

Gates open from 6pm, bonfire lit at 6:30pm, fireworks at 7:30pm.

Live music from Myles Williams (DJ Myles). Fair, bar and food marquee, kids under 3 go free. Ticket only event.

Earlybird tickets (until 9th October): adult = £10 (plus booking fee), child (3-15) = £3 (plus booking fee), children under 3 – free of charge; from 10th October adult = £12, child (3-15) = £5, family ticket (2 adults & 2 children) = £30.

And on Saturday November 8th, Haslington Cricket Club ‘Bonfire Night’ is being staged at Haslington Cricket Club, Clay Lane.

Gates open 5:30pm, bonfire lit at 7pm, fireworks start at 8pm. Adult = £10, child = £8, family (2 adults & 2 children) = £30. Children under 2 – free of charge.
