Baby Squids Nantwich - Margerita King

Swim school franchise Baby Squids UK is to open its 16th franchise covering Nantwich and Staffordshire.

Margarita King bought the Baby Squids Staffordshire & Nantwich franchise and runs all of the classes in this area.

Her background is in SEN support and has worked with children and families to ensure they are supported.

Margarita (pictured) started swimming with her son when he was just four-months-old in 2019, and those early moments in the pool were amazing.

She said: “Spending time in the pool as a first time mum taught me many things.

“The importance of routine, swim safety (even from an early age) and also the bond that comes from dedicated time together.

“Social circles are hard to form or maintain when you are a parent. Everything changes and you have a new identity.”

Now she is taking on her dream and believes in inclusion of abilities, safe spaces and fun.

Baby Squids Staffordshire and Nantwich will be running classes in two pools across Staffordshire and Stafford with plans to expand into more pools soon.

Margarita has experience in pre-school swimming settings and has also qualified s a SEQ Level 3 Swim teacher.

Laura Skilton, Baby Squids owner, said: “Margarita’s natural friendly manner is amazing for supporting families and their
children to learn how important the best start is for a child in the water.

“These early years are vital for the onward journey to create a child who has true water confidence.

“The fun and engaging way that our lessons run are so well suited to someone intuitive who loves working with children, I cannot wait to see how well Margarita is doing as she meets her new customers in just over a month’s time.

“Customers will not be disappointed in her quality of teaching or ethos for every child’s swim journey.”

It’s the 16th franchise sale in five years for the business. Baby Squids owner Laura Skilton, from Hampshire, went national with her swim school just before the Covid pandemic.

She built up the business from scratch and have helped more than 20,000 children learn to swim.

Laura added: “We’ve had huge interest since launching our franchise offer, with our first sales going to our established teachers and now moving into new locations.

“We have seen the business grow over the last two years and have brought on board some fantastic franchisees to build the brand that is vital to our business.

“Our aim is to bring swimming to all, we are inclusive, and supportive and want to ensure that every child gets the chance to build their water confidence early to ensure a safe and lifelong love for the water.”
