First-half - Dabbers players rue a miss on goal (1)

Nantwich Town suffered a home reverse when they went down 0-2 to Runcorn Linnets at the Swansway Stadium.

Two second-half strikes for the visitors were enough to down the Dabbers whose play-off hopes were dealt a blow.

Both sides had chances in the opening half but players struggled in the wet weather to make them tell.

Ben Hockenhull flicked a header over the bar for Nantwich, while Runcorn had one or two scrambles in the Dabbers box without finding the finishing touch.

On 31 minutes, Byron Moore headed down and fired narrowly over the bar, then on stroke of half-time Callum Saunders was denied brilliantly by Passant in the Runcorn goal.

It continued to by an equal contest after the break, until the visitors took the lead on the hour mark.

Kennedy and Hockenhull both leapt for a ball in the box and it fell to Declan McLoughlin who fired in giving Ben Garratt no chance.

Panter and Baillie both had chances to level soon after for Nantwich but could only fire high and wide.

The Dabbers continued to press for a leveller but the final ball was not quite there for the hosts.

Then Runcorn sealed the points in the first minute of injury time when Bakkor ran the length of the Dabbers half to score.

There was no time for Nantwich to respond and defeat leaves them in 10th place in Northern Premier League West, while Runcorn move up to fifth.
